September: Letter from the President

DEAR LADIES OF LADY SADDLERS CLUB,

This month, we traveled to Sedona, Arizona, to celebrate Lady Saddlers Club’s second anniversary. Immediately upon arriving, many of us shared the same sentiment: we needed this trip.

We had been overworked. Life had felt particularly heavy. Things hadn’t necessarily been going according to plan, and many of us had been carrying an incredible amount of stress.

On our second day, we decided to go hiking. Due to a series of random circumstances, we were delayed nearly an hour from our anticipated start time.

When we reached the top, we were greeted by a local man who began telling us about where we were standing. He explained that we were positioned between two powerful vortexes representing masculine and feminine energy.

What started as a simple conversation unexpectedly became something much deeper.

He reminded us that we are connected. Connected to the Earth. Connected to one another. Connected to something greater than ourselves.

He reminded us that we already have what we need within us. That sometimes, we simply need to slow down long enough to hear it. And that when we listen to our heart, it will have a way of guiding us toward where we are meant to be.

He also spoke about fear and how easily it can take over when we try to think our way through everything instead of trusting ourselves.

As I stood there listening, I couldn’t help but think about the delays that morning. Had everything gone according to our plan, we probably would have never met him.

Suddenly, the delay didn’t feel like an inconvenience. It felt like divine timing.

We were exactly where we needed to be, at exactly the moment we needed to be there.

That feeling carried throughout our time in Sedona.

Retreating with these women was magical. The conversations. The laughter. The memories. The freedom to simply be ourselves.

During one of our fireside chats, I looked around and thought about how different we all were. Different personalities. Different backgrounds. Different experiences and perspectives.

There was something beautiful about knowing that our individual paths had somehow brought us together.  We were meant to meet. We were meant to be together for that particular moment in time, each bringing something the others needed.

And perhaps that is part of what sisterhood is.

Divine feminine energy means leading with your heart.

As women, we are often told that we are “too emotional.” We are encouraged to lead with logic, particularly those of us navigating corporate careers, running businesses, and leading organization.

And while logic has its place, sometimes we become so accustomed to pushing through, making decisions, solving problems, and doing what needs to be done that we lose touch with ourselves. We stop listening to our hearts. And eventually, that creates an imbalance within us.

Sedona reminded me of something that I now want to remind you: Trust your heart.

Release the fears that keep you stuck, second-guessing yourself, or believing you have to have everything figured out before taking the next step.

You are exactly where you are meant to be right now.

And if something inside of you is telling you that you are meant to do something different, become something more, or be somewhere else, give yourself permission to sit quietly with that feeling.

Slow down.

Listen.

Your heart already knows the way.
